After decades working in large, established churches, Gilbert is now helping lead a young church plant in Pennsylvania. After a few years, he noticed that while many people were accepting Christ, they were not learning how to apply their new faith in their lives, and didn’t stay long at the church. Large services and small groups weren’t enough. One-to-one relationships provided the time and focus for people to really grow in maturity. And smallcircle’s simple tools helped people feel equipped to become disciple-makers. Gilbert sees an opportunity for generations of disciple-makers to grow out of one-to-one relationships and trains other churches to use smallcircle’s tools. He believes this is how true exponential impact will happen.
- 100% of smallcircle participants at Gilbert’s church have gone on to disciple someone else—they are now on their third generation of disciple-makers.
- Over a dozen smallcircle trainings have impacted 30–40 churches in the Pennsylvania area.
- Gilbert led a training at his denomination’s national conference, impacting 147 churches across the US.
